NFPA 96 is published by the National Fire Protection Association. It is the “Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations.” This Standard is used by states and municipalities to govern the ventilation for commercial kitchens. NFPA 96 requires that the technician cleaning the kitchen ventilation system be certified. Hood-Tech Institute’s Hood Cleaning School can certify you as competent per NFPA 96 today.

Hood Cleaning is a recession-proof job.
How do we know?
Everyone has to eat.
The recession proof job we are talking about is in the food and beverage industry… we are talking the specialty business of hood cleaning. Every commercial and institution is required by law to clean its kitchen cooking ventilation system on a regular basis.
People eat out…even in a recession.
People do not stop eating out during a recession. They “eat down” – meaning they eat at less expensive restaurants. As long as people are working, schools serve lunch, and nursing homes and hospitals exist there will be a need for certified hood cleaning technicians.
Hood cleaning is a recession proof service that is mandated by law.
Cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust systems (hood cleaning) is required by state and local fire codes. Most of these Authorities require the cleaning be performed in accordance with NFPA-96. Hood Cleaning Certification is required for the performance of this work.
